![Next weekend I’ll be heading up to San Francisco to participate in the Escape from Alcatraz (courtesy of Accenture), site of the world-famous prison. Me and the other competitors will be swimming 1.5 miles through the choppy, frigid and shark-infested waters of the SF Bay from Alcatraz to Baker Beach, then biking 18 miles through hilly SF and then running 8 miles through the beaches and trails of the Golden Gate Park. I’ll also be there to run a disabled triathlon clinic for the CAF. I’ll be showing other amputees how to train, prepare and compete in triathlons as a disabled person.
EL ESCAPE DE ALCATRAZ
La semana entrante me voy para San Francisco (gracias al patrocinio de Accenture) para participar en la prueba de “Escape from Alcatraz,” una competencia donde hay que nadar desde la isla de Alcatraz (la de la famosa cárcel de donde nadie se pudo escapar) hasta las orillas de San Francisco una milla y media (2.5 km) y después 18 millas (29 km) en bicicleta por los cerros de San Francisco y 8 millas (13 km) a pie corriendo por las playas y sendas naturales de esa ciudad. También tendré la oportunidad de aconsejar a otros atletas con discapacidad de que cosas hay que hacer para participar en un triatlón cuando uno tiene alguna discapacidad.
